Endangered Wildlife Safari

More than a safari tour, this trip is a unique opportunity to visit and support 3 different conservation projects that work with the protection of some of the most beautiful and endangered species of the Brazilian fauna.

Our trip begins in Rio, the wonderful city, where we’ll make a full-day tour to the Poço das Antas Reserve to visit the Golden Lion Tamarin Conservation Project. This strikingly beautiful primate is one of the most endangered mammals in the world. All of the approximately 1000 remaining individuals in the wild are found in the lowlands of the Atlantic Rainforest in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Then we fly to Cuiabá, where we’ll start a 7-day adventure exploring the best of Pantanal, the largest flooded plain on Earth. The region is home to more than 650 species of birds, 124 mammals, 177 reptiles and over 1,100 species of butterflies. Here we will stay in all-inclusive farm-lodges and join numerous safaris, searching some of the rarest animals in Brazil, such as the Brazilian Jaguar and the Giant Otters, with the company of local naturalist bilingual guides.

After 4 days exploring the North Pantanal, we’ll fly southwards to Campo Grande, from where we’ll start a 3-day exploration of South Pantanal. Besides land and boat safaris, horseback rides and birding tours, we’ll also have a unique opportunity to visit and experience the field activities of some of the most important environmental projects in the region: the Gadonça, a Jaguar Conservation Project, and the Hyacinth Macaw Project.

We’ll finally spend the last days of this trip in the city of Bonito, a unique region full of natural attractions, which became the Mecca of ecotourism in Brazil. There we’ll be able to visit outstanding grottos with blue lakes, walk on trails surrounded by monkeys and snorkel on crystal clear rivers whose waters are among the most transparent in the world.
