INSPECTION TRIPS for GROUP LEADERS

Inspection or Familiarization Trips are available to most Rainforest and Reef destinations for individuals interested in bringing a group of their own at some point in the future. Based on reasonable requests, we will do all that we can to either allow you to visit one of our sites individually or to join one of our existing groups.

How it works:

1. Contact Rainforest and Reef and let us know what Field Course site you are interested in visiting, as well as the dates you can travel. Include a brief description of your interests, needs and the type of group you would like to recruit for a future trip. While approval is not based on having taken previous group, we would like to know if you have, what destination(s) and the average number of participants in each one of your groups. Have you taken a group of your own in the past? In some cases, we do require a letter from your Department/Administration on your organization's letterhead, stating that you their support to recruiting and traveling with a group of you own in the future.

2. If we agree that your request merits an Inspection Trip, we will either charge you a small ground fee or offer you ground services at no cost. These ground costs will be reimbursed if/when you bring a group through us to any of our Field Course sites with (x) no. of full-paying participants. This number depends on the Field Course site and will be agreed upon beforehand. We do ask that you pay for your own International and/or Domestic airfare. All International/Domestic air costs paid for your inspection trip will again be reimbursed if/when you bring a group through us to any of our sites with (x) no. of full-paying participants. This number depends on the Field Course site and will be agreed upon beforehand. If the number of full-paying participants you bring in the future falls short of the number agreed upon, we will prorate your reimbursement(s).

3. This offer is dependent on the Field Course site and the time of year that you can travel.

4. We may ask for documentation from your administration that travel with a group is fully supported.

5. When you arrive at our Field Course site, you will experience the same kind of transportation, outstanding Guide services, food, lodging that your group will experience if/when you bring one in the future.

6. We can’t accommodate every request we get for Inspection Trips, but will do everything possible to do so. We have in the past even been able to allow potential group leaders to visit most destinations, including the Galápagos Islands.

7. If you would like a list of past group leaders that have taken part in an Inspection Trip, prior to bringing their own group, please let us know and we will be pleased to supply you with references and their contact information.

8. We do not include spouses or more than one organization representative in this offer. If a spouse, fellow faculty member, friend, etc. would like to join you, their trip will be done at no profit to Rainforest and Reef for the ground portion. There will be no reimbursements to them, should you bring a group in the future.
